Girl Canvas

Why does this girl constantly talk about her material things?
There is this one girl who constantly talks about how she paid $20 for a pair of gym shorts and this yellow canvas bag and how she wants this $200 camera for Christmas and how her coach shoes are so awesome.
She comes from a middle class American family. No one at my school or in my neighboor hood is considered wealthy. Yeah, we can afford the things we need and take vacations, but why does she do this? No one cares and we complain to each other about her. She also is mean to people about their stuff, grades, whatever.
Probably to cover up her incredibly poor self-image.
People who boast about what they have vs. talking about their personal shortcomings or sharing their feelings have to come up with something so they feel “worthy”.
This is all superficial claptrap.
Feel sorry for her.
