Window coverings and window treatments are a great way to add elegance to a room. Architects give a lot of thought to windows in a building because these are the openings that allow for ventilation, view, and shadowing of the interiors. Some suppliers offer an album containing hundreds of fabrics and designs that one can choose from. These are then crafted into the perfect window treatments anyone can have customized for their windows at home or the office.
Shades and window coverings come in many designs, materials and colors. There are bamboo shades and shutters that are very elegant and cost effective. Very narrow and fine bamboo strips are woven into sheets that are lined on all four sides with some fabric. These can have designs painted on them or woven into them. They are easily installed on a window just like a curtain. These bamboo curtains cannot be pulled to the side like the other window coverings. They can, however, be rolled up by pulling on a string and fixed at the top of the window when required.
Shutters are made out of wider strips of wood or vinyl fixed on above the other. They are just like horizontal blinds just wider. Shutters can come in many shapes and designs. Your interior designer will be in a better position to guide you as to the kind of window covering that will be right for you.
