Flashing Dolphin

When your laying down at night , tired and trying to fall asleep with your eyes closed?

and you suddenly hear a noise , do you ever get a “light flash” , best i can describe it , in your head?

I assume it’s somehow related to entoptic phenomena, which are known in anthropology and art as the images (colors and shapes) that appear in your eyes in the first levels of trance-like states.

It could also be related to what psychologists/neurologists refer to as “sleep spindles,” which are bursts of brain activity during stage 2 of sleep. These bursts of activity are generally associated with the thin, nonsense dreams of light sleep, but may feel like genuine sensations.

Supposedly it’s common for people to hear voices, mostly calling their name, before dropping off to sleep. So don’t stress out thinking there’s something wrong with you X].
